A board game raises more than $ 5 million on KickStarter
Ambitious project developed by a small Polish startup, Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon has managed to establish itself as the phenomenon of this end of the year on crowdfunding platforms, with more than 5 million dollars recovered in the space of one month on KickStarter. An astronomical amount for a board game - a testament to KickStarter's huge popularity with role-playing and social fans.
Having become a must, the platform had already allowed the Polish startup to raise more than $ 9 million for its previous projects.
Funded in 3h top chrono, the project is the result of an improbable collaboration between a Polish author of fantastic works, Krzysztof Piskorski, a development studio and a team of passionate players, already authors of several great successes, such as the excellent Nemesis, Lords of Hellas or This War of Mine: The Board Game.
In addition to its universe, the game owes its success to its generous content (nearly 1,000 cards, dozens of figurines and hundreds of pieces), the richness of its scenario (a 220-page booklet will be delivered with the game) and its capacity to become a true multimedia project. In addition to the board game and narrative adventure, buyers will be able to download a complete adventure game via Steam.
Totally unexpected, even for its designers, Tainted Grail is only confirming the growing popularity of role-playing games and society on crowdfunding platforms. Just a month ago, a French startup was able to raise more than € 600,000 for another ambitious board game - the aptly named Monumental.
