Yet another rebound in the trade war pitting the United States and its allies against China and telecom giants Huawei and ZTE. After the Chinese companies have decided to boycott Apple and encourage Huawei, it is the turn of the United States to take similar measures.

President Trump would indeed consider signing a decree banning US companies from buying equipment "to foreign telecom groups posing significant risks to national security." A measure that aims without naming them Huawei and ZTE. US domestic security suspects the two Chinese manufacturers of espionage on behalf of the Chinese government. He and the companies concerned refute these allegations and claim that they are not based on any tangible evidence.

According to Reuters, which is the source of the information, this measure has been under consideration for more than eight months. It could now be quickly applied, possibly as early as January. Several other countries have taken action against Huawei and ZTE. This is particularly the case of Japan. The operator Orange has announced that it will not use Huawei equipment for its future 5G network in France. Deutsche Telekom is also distrustful of announcing a revision of its supplier plans.
